The City of
Brickell:
Brickell
has always been the heart of Miami’s business
and commerce. This financial boomtown began with the story
of William and Mary Brickell, the city’s first pioneers
to move to the area from Ohio in 1871. With $3,000 in their
pockets, they purchased 2,000 acres of land which expanded
from the Miami River to Coconut Grove. With the birth of their
trading post they were first of many entrepreneurs in the area.
It was Mary Brickell who convinced Henry Flagler that the Brickell
area was to be more then a simple trading located at the mouth
of the Miami River.
With the arrival of the Florida East Coast Railroad, Mrs.Brickell’s
vision of a prosperous residential and business community became
a reality. After the death of her husband in 1908 she also
went on to develop Brickell Avenue and The Roads. Miami soon
became the home for investors from all over the country. Soon
after “Millionaire’s Row” was established,
a street lined with mansions in Brickell, many prominent figures
of the time made it their home such as: James Deering, Louis
Comfort Tiffany, William Jennings Bryan & Dr. James Jackson.
Today “Millionaire’s Row” is the location
of several posh condominiums.
Brickell has earned many names ranging from the “Wall
Street of the South” and “the financial gateway
to Latin America” to the “new South Beach”.
Once solely the financial district of Miami, it is now a night
hotspot, and a home of choice for families of businessmen and
women. Brickell has the highest concentration of international
banks in the country and is also home to many prestigious Latin
American firms. This neighborhood has recently become more
resident-friendly with the addition of the Mary Brickell Village;
a local mall with chic shops, restaurants, and bars. There
are also future plans for an Epicure Market, Whole Foods, Publix,
LA Fitness, movie theater, and a Balans restaurant in the area.
The growth in real estate opportunities in Brickell reflects
a nation trend to move from the suburbs to the city. Prices
dropped a whopping 30% as of April, and the once untouchable
properties are now the future homes for young professionals
working in the area. In addition to the convenience of a short
work commute, Brickell offers the same entertainment as the
renowned South Beach with a more refined crowd. And let’s
not forget! This modern community is also minutes away from
the new Carnival Theater & Opera House, Miami Art Museum,
Historical Museum of Southern Florida, the American Airlines
Arena, the Gusman Theater of the Performing Arts, and the Bayside
Marketplace. It is no wonder this area is soaring with luxurious
condominium developments. Thirty new towers supplying 16,000
units are in store.

not head home once you've leave the office on Tuesday:
Start early with the Happy Hour drink specials

ladies drink cosmos for free until 10 p.m. and
DJ Lenym will be playing your faves from back in

smiling. We can't see any reason not to go. Except
for our spouses and children, but they know we
need a break.
